Hi, I have a MacBook Pro Retina mid 2012. This device has two USB ports, one left and one right. I use both USB ports to either charge/sync a iPhone 5s, 6s, iPad 3 etc.
Today I bought a iPad Pro 9,7" and it seems it can only charge from the right USB port and not from the left USB port. If connected to th left port, it says "Not Charging" next to the iPad battery icon.
Is this normal behavior ?

Actually, I am surprised it is able to charge from either USB port, as they generally do not provide sufficient current to charge an iPad. It is best to charge it using the included high power charge block.

The usb port on a pc is not powerful enough to charge an iPad .

Well actually I can charge an iPad 3 with both USB ports from my MacBook Pro retina 2012.
Sure I understand that using a wall adapter is the safest and fastest way, but used to charging with an USB port, I was unhappy to see that it was with a iPad pro not longer possible..😟
Under Sierra the iPad does charge again...but slow...🙂
